JOB SUMMARY:
Oxford Design Build is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to be a senior field leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction work in the field to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role is accountable for day-to-day site leadership, trade coordination, and proactive execution.  This position partners closely with Project Managers but owns field execution, trade readiness, short-interval planning, and on-site decision-making.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, logistics plans, and scopes prior to work starting.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and identify field risks, constraints, and sequencing issues.
  • Verify site readiness prior to mobilization, including access, utilities, safety controls, and temporary conditions.
  • Confirm subcontractor scopes align with drawings, approved submittals, and project expectations.
  • Support development of the baseline project schedule with a focus on field execution feasibility.
  • Develop, maintain, and actively manage look-ahead schedules (2–6 week horizon).
  • Identify upcoming constraints (materials, manpower, inspections, approvals, access, owner impacts).
  • Coordinate subcontractors to ensure trade readiness prior to mobilization.
  • Communicate upcoming work and constraints clearly to Project Managers and trade partners.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing field-driven schedule and progress updates.
  • Lead and coordinate daily on-site activities of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Enforce site safety plans and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-managed job sites.
  • Coordinate logistics including deliveries, access, shutdowns, temporary protection, signage, and dust control.
  • Work collaboratively with Property Management to minimize disruption to occupants and neighboring tenants.
  • Resolve field issues proactively and escalate risks early when needed.
  • Inspect work for quality, completeness, and compliance with approved documents.
  • Verify work is installed per drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
  • Track daily progress against the schedule and adjust sequencing as required.
  • Support punch list creation, corrective work, and final inspections.
  • Assist with project closeout activities including turnover readiness and documentation.

SAFETY & QUALITY ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Owns jobsite safety performance and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts safety walks, enforces PPE requirements, and leads by example.
  • Ensures work meets Oxford quality standards before advancing to the next phase.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
While this role has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the Superintendent is considered a senior field leader and may be asked to mentor and support the development of current and future field staff. This includes coaching on planning, trade coordination, safety leadership, and execution standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing schedules, look-ahead planning, and trade coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, PlanGrid, Smartsheets, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, active construction environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee will be regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. Employee will be frequently required to reach with hands or arms. Employee is occasionally required to sit or stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal working office conditions. Noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
